NERJA: BEFORE AND AFTER

By 9 June, 2014June 6th, 2018Nerja

Nerja has changed a lot over the last 40 years. Tourism progress in Nerja started in the 60s, and, since then, the town has grown a lot, always with sustainable development aims, showing the maximum possible respect for the environment. In these photos we can see how the surrounding area of the Parador de Nerja and Burriana beach were in the past and how they look today.

Burriana beach is the largest and busiest in Nerja. Besides, it is a high quality beach, owning the Q mark for Tourist Quality. Only the best beaches are given this certification, which means that they comply with a series of quality standards, like the most useful amenities for tourists (such as individual showers and public toilet facilities), as well as with a respect for the environment.

The lack of large buildings of massive touristic sprawl is one of the determining factors that make Nerja a quiet and sustainable spot to spend holidays. Over many years, there has been a support in the town for the idea of a touristic progress that is not based on an urban sprawl with massive hotels and apartments. Students visiting our School, aware of the importance of taking care and protecting our natural environment, really appreciate this philosophy.

We thank them and all of you, as 40 years later we are keeping a clean and natural Nerja, where we can the experience of living.
