Intensive Spanish courses organized by Escuela de Idiomas Nerja

Escuela de Idiomas Nerja organizes intensive Spanish for learning and practising the language in the country of origin. The Intensive Spanish course consists of four hours per day, divided into two classes of two hours, with a 25-minute break in the middle. These courses are designed for people who want to live the experience of learning Spanish in a relaxed and dynamic atmosphere.

The timetable of all the courses can be either in the morning or in the afternoon from 9 am to 7 pm. In these classes students receive a full lesson on Spanish grammar. At the same time, they can see the teacher’s methodology, which is based on real and effective verbal communication. Furthermore, students have the possibility of enjoying the facilities located in a typical Andalusian whitewashed building.

In the Intensive Spanish course, it is the student who decides the pace to be followed to learn Spanish. Students are the protagonists, because they make a special effort in oral communication, in the practical interaction with their teacher and classmates. “We have a unique and wonderful planet. With the help of us all, a better world is possible”

Andre Wehrli works in the Swiss  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he visits Nerja once a year to enjoy the town with his family. As an expert in sustainable development, Andre told us a lot of interesting things about taking care of the environment and the protection of nature.

 – What are the major environmental problems in the world of today?

Nowadays, there are many major ecological problems and they are often caused by the overexploitation of nature’s resources. The planet’s global warming is a really urgent problem, but also the lack of clean water, the depletion of biodiversity and natural habitats (both in amount and quality) are also very important problems.

 – Why is taking care of the environment so important?

We have a unique planet, a unique world, and the environment is our best life insurance. It is not possible to live without the environment and natural resources. However, our planet can perfectly survive without the presence of human beings… That is the question. Leer más Sobre “We have a unique and wonderful planet. Summer activities come to an end with the big success of outdoor cooking lessons

Extracurricular specific Summer activities come to an end this month of September, showing a “very positive” balance, in words of the School’s Director of Activities, Celia Jiménez, who also highlights “the great reception afforded this year to the outdoor cooking lessons”, that have joined a total number of 200 people along the whole Summer. Besides, due to the students’ demand, the visit to theCaveofNerjahas increased its frequency.

Cooking lessons are held every week in the Andalusian patio located at Club Costa Nerja, the hall of residence for the students visiting the School. There, at dinner time, the students prepare a delicious paella or a fideuá, depending of the attendants’ taste that evening, always with the help of a chef-professor. The students themselves cook the main course, also preparing the drinks, salad and a tasty dessert that has had watermelon as its main ingredient this summer. While all the dishes are made, the teacher explains how the paella is prepared, including his/her cooking tricks to get a perfect dinner.
