Where was Trivial Pursuit born? In Nerja

Trivial Pursuit, the world’s most well-known trivia game, was born in Nerja, in 1980. It was an invention by Chris Haines and Scott Abbott, two Canadian journalists who lived in Nerja. Here, these two friends spent many days and evenings thinking about all the possible questions and answers to create their board game, according to the investigations made by the English journalist David Blair. It resulted in a total number of 6.000 questions on the game’s first edition!

At first, the idea of inventing a board game with simple rules and a dynamic rhythm did not have a warm reception. In fact, the two journalists were searching in Nerja for investors who supported their idea, only to find one person ready to get economically involved in the project with one thousand dollars. Of course, that person became rich some time later.

The two youngsters were nice and kind boys, who really enloyed and liked conversation and life in Andalusia. They had a dream, an idea, and they made it true. Today, Trivial Pursuit is the world’s most popular board game. It is suitable for the whole family, with thousand of questions on many different topics.
